Ronaldo to stay with Al Nassr ‘for $675m’

Cristiano Ronaldo has committed to two more years with Al Nassr, extending his Saudi Pro League tenure.

“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together,” Ronaldo posted on social media platform X.

He joined the Riyadh-based club in late 2022 following his departure from Manchester United. Since joining the Saudi club, he has scored 93 goals across 105 matches, according to ESPN.

While no official contract value was given, The Sun, a British tabloid, reported that the footballer signed a deal worth £492 million ($675 million) over two years, in addition to other perks, including a 15 percent ownership stake in the club, valued at £33 million.

Ronaldo’s move increased the visibility of the Saudi domestic league and other high-profile transfers from Europe followed – Karim Benzema, Robert Firmino, Kalidou Koulibaly and Fabinho all joined the league.

Earlier this year, AGBI reported that Al Nassr had signed 21-year-old Jhon Durán from Aston Villa in a $78 million deal.

Saudi clubs completed more than 50 signings in the latest transfer window, based on figures from Transfermarkt, with more than half of the players aged 23 or younger. The average age of these signings was just under 24.

Saudi Arabia was chosen in December to host the 2034 World Cup.
